#Adulting Bed Time Checklist 💤 Hello Fall 🍂!

Autumn is the season for books, tea, and more high quality sleep. Since the last post, I’ve really focused on getting better sleep, building a sleep routine, and listening to my body when it says we need more… Those simple steps (when I’m consistent) make me feel so much better in the morning after a good night’s rest.

If you are interested in hearing all the health benefits of good sleep. You can find them in my last post about sleep hygiene and the ways we can all improve them.

In this post, I want to dive a bit deeper specifically into the sleep routine which I find to be the most effective way to build up better sleep. Since implementing a clear sleep routine I’ve seen real progress.

  1. I fall asleep faster
  2. I have built these natural ways of letting my body know it’s time for bed.
  3. I’m also not so pressed, that I don’t swag and sway the routine when needed.
  4. I feel much less “foggy” in the morning b/c I’m getting quality sleep.

#Adulting Bed Time Checklist 💤

I don’t do all of these each night, but I wanted to include a comprehensive list you could pick and choose from.
🕯️ Dim lights an hour before bed (soft lamps, candles, or salt lamp).
📵 Power down electronics or switch to “Do Not Disturb
🛏️ Make the bedroom cool, dark, and cozy with blankets.
📖 Read or listen to a calming book (no thrillers right before bed!).
✍🏾 Write 2 worries then 2 gratitudes
🫖 Sip a warm, caffeine-free tea (chamomile, lavender, or spiced apple).
🎧 Listen to soft music, sleep sounds, or a calming meditation.
🛁 Take a warm bath or shower to relax muscles.
😌 Practice 5–10 minutes of deep breathing or mindfulness.
🕰️ Go to bed at the same time each night to set your body clock.
🌙 Keep wake-up and sleep times consistent—even on weekends.
🧦 Slip on cozy socks (helps circulation and sleep quality).
🍎 Enjoy a light evening snack with sleep-supporting foods (like banana, tart cherry, or warm oatmeal).

Last thing I’ll say about my sleep routine is I use a BedJet. My husband gifted this to me for mothers day in 2024. Since then, it is my sleep go to almost every night. The BedJet cools on hot nights or gentle warming on chilly evenings, it adjusts instantly and has an auto timer that turns off. I certainly do not love the price tag, but I can say with daily use it was worth it for me.

If you try any of these, drop me a line and let me know! I’d love to know what’s working ☺️.
