“It’s impossible said Doubt
It’s dangerous said Fear
It’s pointless said Reason
Try it anyway Whispered the heart……“
Meeting; noun An act or process of coming together:
One eye open and one closed I hear the alarm and make the first decision of the day… continue to sleep or head down for my first meeting? A meeting with Myself. Calling it a “meeting” gives a bit more meaning and commitment to Myself. I attend meetings for many hats in my life, parent meetings, work meetings, volunteer meetings, church meetings, budget meetings, ect..ect..ect… however, the purpose of my 5am meeting is restoration
Why?
According to Forbes, getting up early can help people start their day calmly and proactively without the chaotic rush —which often triggers stress hormones. Getting up early is associated with increased productivity, which can lead to feeling more successful doing the workday. An early start is also associated with improved mental health and life satisfaction and a decreased risk of diabetes and obesity. In addition to the research, I can confirm without a doubt my emotional health is improved days I complete my 5am process. I’ve learned additional sleep does not outweigh processing time with Myself to think through solutions to problems, unlock answers held in the deep recesses, and most importantly check-in with Myself. We take in micro-aggressions, difficult conversations, and repeated challenges that need repair and replenishment before we simply “carry-on”.
What do you Do?
After a quick morning prayer I tip toe down the stairs (as my family sleeps soundly) and turn on a soft lamp at the desk. Sometimes my pup-pup Cleopatra follows me if she feels so inclined that day. Otherwise, I’m left alone for the next hour to connect with the whispers of my heart; and a notebook 📓. The first question is one I write as if I’m speaking to a friend… Queen how are you really?

Sometimes I just want to create…sometimes write… sometimes focus heavily on managing all the calendars in my life. whatever it may be I listen to what’s inside. I wrote perviously about my bullet journal process in 2 posts. What I find is the still of the morning allows me to listen to my inner knowledge in a deliberate way. This is the time I’ve formed my brightest and best ideas. Sometimes, I play a bit of lo-fi jazz to wake up my senses gently before the morning rush begins.

How Can I Begin?
Consider a few questions, as you think about creating you’re 1:1:
- If you could whisper a secret to someone what would you say?
- In one word, what’s the biggest problem in my life right now?
- In 3 words what is today’s intention?
- You have 25 hours today, what would you do with that extra hour?
After you answer that last question…. find time to do it!
In peace,
J
