So friends, if you’ve been following the blog for awhile now, you know around this time I start talking about one of my favorite topics… PLANNING!

I am an avid bullet journaler, a key part of my self-care I’ve talked about extensively in the past.

One shift I’ve had to make in the last 3 years is making sure my health is a part of my planning process.

In the pic above, I sit down with a pen, paper, and a few stickers ☺️ to set the intention of how I want my month to go. Over the course of the month I make adjustments, pivot but keep my health in clear focus. I also make sure any health appointments I need are in place.

What are the Benefits of Planning your day?

  • A study in the Journal of Experimental Psychology (2011) found that those who planned their tasks in advance completed more of them and were better at prioritizing important over urgent tasks.
  • Planning ahead reduces the “decision fatigue” that eats up mental energy throughout the day
  • According to a study from the American Psychological Association, people who create a structured daily plan can boost productivity by 20–25%
  • Even 10 minutes spent planning your day can decrease anxiety and increase motivation.
  • The National Institutes of Health notes that daily planning helps people feel more in control, which lowers cortisol (stress hormone) levels.
  • Research from Dominican University of California found that people who write down their goals and action steps are 42% more likely to achieve them.

What Should I Plan in 10 min?

  • What Are Three Tasks to Move my Goals Forward?
  • How Will I Move My Body Today?
  • What Food will Nourish me Today?
  • What Appointments Do I Need?
  • Who or What am I Grateful For?

How Do I Know What Appointments I Need?

In addition to the question prompts above, below is a chart of screenings we should be considering every year. Incorporating these appointments into your planning will save you time later AND your body will thank you!
