🎁 Do You Have Time or Make Time? Time is a Gift + 🫖 Evening Tea Recipe

My view from the ship, book, journal and cuppa joe in the morning!

We interrupt my blog schedule to wax poetic on a value that is so meaningful to me. Time…… My family and I took a cruise last week and I can truly say I valued that time. I spent time with each family member individually as well as together. I nourished myself really well in a culinary journey, slept alot, read for intellectual pleasure, and reflected deeply. I’m grateful to the universe for meeting me where I needed it.

To this day I still journal in gratitude of the greatest gift I gave myself when we moved from Chicago to Cincinnati……. Time…..

I remember the day so clearly in January of 2020. I was riding the train to work sometime around 6ish am thinking through the herculean effort of my morning commute.

A 4am wake up

Rushed hygiene

A poor nutritional breakfast

A whispered good bye to my son

And out the door to make it to the train on time.

I remember thinking through teary-eyes…..

This is not sustainable” – Me Jan 2020

I had no idea just a couple months later we would face a pandemic, which led to time to think, which led to a decision to completely upend my life. As I reflect upon this time now, it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made (right behind my husband and Son of course 😉). I won’t go into the entire journay of moving my family two states away

Have time or Make time?

I talk in depth about this move in a blog post here ⬇️:

“I Don’t Have Time…..”

Now 5am looks very different for me. It’s the time I’m using to center myself, bake, journal, exercise, even sit on the couch and listen to an audio book while enjoying my morning coffee. This time looks so different because I did my inner #werk. Took on the risks, and came out on the other side. I won’t tell you it was easy, or even clear at times, but what I can tell you it was worth it.

Does this sound familiar? I hear this often from people in my life. When I hear someone say this my response is always…

Do you Have time or Make Time?

If you are forutnately enough to have choices in your life, sometimes we need to take a step back and realize we are allowed choice. You are in the drivers seat, you get to choose where to spend your time.

“Some decisions may require more risk than the next, but it’s still your choice.”

🫖 Before we Start our Time Audit, let’s make a Cuppa Tea:

🌙🍎 Chamomile Honey Apple Bedtime Tea

  • 1 tablespoon dried chamomile flowers (or 1 chamomile tea bag)
  • 2–3 thin slices of fresh apple (skin on for extra flavor)
  • 1 small piece of cinnamon stick (or 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon)
  • 1 teaspoon raw honey (to taste)
  • 1 cup hot water

Instructions:

  1. Add chamomile, apple slices, and cinnamon to a mug or teapot.
  2. Pour hot water over the ingredients.
  3. Cover and steep for 8–10 minutes to let the apple and cinnamon release their flavor.
  4. Strain if desired, then stir in honey.
  5. Enjoy warm as a naturally sweet, calming nightcap.
