Every now and then, a book lands in your hands at just the right moment. Surprisingly, this was an airport grab while waiting for a delayed flight. I had no expectation, just interested in hearing her story. That book is Uncommon Favor by Coach Dawn Staley.
I thought it was going to be a sports story from a great Coach, but what I got was a complete recalibration of how I view leadership, purpose, and people.
Coach Staley doesn’t just talk about winningāshe talks about why we lead, who weāre leading, and how to build something bigger than ourselves. Her message is crystal clear: take care of people, and the product will take care of itself.
What sets this book apart isnāt just her legendary resumeāitās her faith-based approach, her grounded values, and her consistent commitment to doing the hard things with heart. I saw myself in her words, especially in moments where she reminded readers to stay true to their voice, even in rooms that donāt seem ready for it.
