This month, we are falling back in love with healthy habits. Just as the season shifts, it’s the perfect time to reset. Checking in with your personal goals, building better sleep routines for true rest, or nourishing our bodies with fall flavors like roasted root vegetables, apples, and spiced teas. Maybe it’s trading late-night scrolling for curling up with a good book under a cozy blanket, or stepping outside to breathe in the crisp autumn air. Whatever it looks like for you, remember: healthy habits are intentional that can ground, heal, and restore us.
I’m sharing this calendar preview to keep us on track! If you like this format, drop me a line and let me know! Let’s chat 👸🏾

📚 Books of the Month
For this month’s books, I first recommend checking them out at the library for Free! Can we talk about the joy of that?!?!? I LOVE the library and check out many many books a month. 🏃🏽♀️ Start with your library!

Coded Justice by Stacey Abrams is the third Avery Keene thriller. Now working as a corporate investigator, Avery is hired by a company developing AI to transform healthcare for veterans. But when glitches turn deadly—including the suspicious death of an engineer—she and her team uncover a dangerous web of corporate intrigue, ethics, and hidden agendas. Fast-paced and thought-provoking, this legal thriller dives into the risks of technology, the pursuit of justice, and the courage it takes to uncover the truth.

Praisesong for the Kitchen Ghosts is a lyrical and heartwarming blend of memoir and cookbook by Crystal Wilkinson, Kentucky’s former Poet Laureate. Through nearly forty family recipes—ranging from corn pudding to Granny Christine’s jam cake—Wilkinson honors five generations of Black Appalachian women who shaped a culinary legacy rooted in resilience, memory, and ancestral presence. With beautiful photos, vivid storytelling, delicious recipes and soulful reflection, this book invites readers into kitchens where cooking becomes a celebration of heritage, connection, and the untold stories of Black Appalachia.
I was fortunate enough to hear Ms. Wilkerson speak in person last year. I loved the wisdom she shared around being a home cook and now watch her daughters discover their own love of cooking. I’m making it a goal to try her biscuit recipe… wish me luck!
